I am having the same problem. I have a 2008 SLT-2 and I bought an updated Navi DVD to replace the verison installed now. BUT I cannot get the faceplate to flip down. It simply makes those strange noises and does nothing when I push the eject map disc button. I have also tried holding the eject button next to the external top media slot and got the same result. Does anyone know if there is a manual release to allow the navigation faceplate to flip down? Help.just spent $200 on the Navi DVD and I want to use it!
HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED TROUBLE GETTING THE SCREEN TO FLIP DOWN TO INSERT THE NAVIGATION DVD. I RECENTLY PURCHASED AN '08 ACADIA SLT-2 WITH THE NAVIGATION/DVD SYSTEM AND TRIED TO INSERT THE NAVIGATION DVD BEHIND THE SCREEN BUT IT WILL NOT FOLD DOWN.

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.You don't provide enough detail for us to help effectively. It sounds like you're physically trying to pull it open. Follow the instructions carefully on your NAV screen. The disc carrier will come open at the top in order for you to slide out the NAV disc. The eject button has nothing to do with the NAV disc.
I thought there was a manual open button (besides the eject button) somewhere on the face of the unit; although I could be wrongOn page 38 of the Navigation manual, it says: Ejecting the DVD Map Disc The navigation portion of the system cannot be used if the DVD map disc is not loaded. Press MENU to enter the Menu options, then press it repeatedly until Nav is selected or press the Nav screen button. Press the Map Database Information screen button. Press the Eject Map Disc screen button. The screen tilts, exposing the map DVD slot.
Press eject, located next to the DVD map disc slot, and the disc ejects. Pull the disc out. The screen cannot be closed until a double beep is heard.
