A month after the all-new BMW Z4 was unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in guise, three other variants of the sports car have been announced. The first of these models is the 2019 BMW Z4 sDrive20i Roadster while the second is the 2019 BMW Z4 sDrive30i Roadster. Last but not least is the 2020 Z4 M40i.

These three regular-grade versions won’t be limited in production numbers, unlike the First Edition, and the sDrive30i Roadster will start to arrive in dealerships across the United States very soon. As its name implies, the 2020 Z4 M40i will be introduced sometime next year. The sDrive20i Roadster won’t be sold in the U.S. Power for the entry-level sDrive20i comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TwinPower turbocharged engine delivering 197 hp.

The E90 generation BMW M3 was built from 2008 to 2013. The E90 M3 came with a unique 4.0-liter S65 V8 producing 414 horsepower and screamed at over 8,000 rpm.

This engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power through the rear wheels. As for the slightly punchier sDrive30i, it comes equipped with the same 2.0-liter four-pot but benefits from a series of upgrades that lift power to 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque (400 Nm). With an open piece of road, it will accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in a respectable 5.2 seconds. Last but not least is the Z4 M40i. Like the First Edition, it comes with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six that puts out 382 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm). This allows for a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) sprint of 4.4 seconds. Beyond its different engine, the M40i comes fitted with adaptive suspension with electronically controlled dampers, upgraded brakes, and a rear electronically locking differential.

These parts are optional on the four-cylinder models. The sDrive30i will land in U.S. Dealers in March followed by the M40i. Pricing details haven’t been announced. That is one seriously goofy looking car. Like a Miata with a weird body kit.

From some angles its ok and I’m sure it’ll be cool the first year or so as its brand new. When that wears I can only imagine this will linger on BMW lots like all Z4’s seem to have ever done. Interior is pretty cool though, outside of the weird mounting of the infotainment screen. At $15k less or so, this might be an interesting little roadster. At its expected asking price it’s got too many design flaws for my tastes, especially those weird creases on the hood.
