International Model M Grain Drill Manual

300-page Partss Manual covers a wide variety of grain drills built. 1923-1960 McCormick International Grain Drills Manual. Model M (1949-1960).
If you have fertilizer boxes it is a model MF. Neighbor used my double run feed MF that also has grass seed to sow a corn food plot. It worked but emergence wasn't uniform due to poor depth control and as expected seed/plant spacing wasn't good.
He had me shell a few acres and I would estimate at best approx 1/2 the normal yield. He didn't fertilize well and weed control was really poor because he didn't apply any herbicide. If only a few acres might be OK providing you aren't expecting high or even normal yields. If any significant acres I would hire someone to properly plant it, or buy a cheap planter (plate type) and write it off after a couple of years.

It would be a MF as the M was a seed only no fertilizer drill and the small box on the back would be a later model add on as the only grass seed box was the one mounted on the front. Do have the owners manuals around here someplace for both the M & MF drills, used a 13-7 single disc opener MF for years, then got a Deere, bought a MF double disc a few years ago to rebuild but havent yet got it done. What I always thought was the double run was the seperate tubes for the fertilizer and wheat, with the single run using the same tube for both, both that I have had have the single tube and both have had the grass seed box on the front, seen one once that had the low rear mount grass seed box, was in a scrap yard, wanted to get the box but did not make it to. And Both drills I have had had the 2 cups in the box with a moveable cover to put on one or the other depending on seed type or you could put a cover over both openings to seed 14', 21' or 28' rows. Never seen a McCormick with the other type seed drop but that is what my Deere has and I do not like the Deere. Both the McCormic were clutch lift but I do have here the parts to convert to hydrolic lift.

A 13-7 was standard around her with a few 15-7 but nothing bigger.
